Myeongdong Cathedral

Myeongdong is a capitalist and commercial place. So Myeongdong Cathedral look disparate. But while most people in Myeongdong gloat over you as a moneybag, some people in the cathedral treat you as a wounded spirit. I think it is a exquisite harmony.
Myeongdong Cathedral is a symbol of Korea Catholic. It is the first building by Gothic style in Korea. And it is also the first parish church in Korea. But that was not the only reason why it is a symbol of Korea Catholic.
Myeongdong cathedral had a very symbolic role in many democratic and labor movements in Korea. It also stood for the people during the pro-democracy movement of the 80s. Cardinal Stephen Kim Sou-Hwan was especially admired by all the people in Korea because of his support for Korea pro-democracy movement. So Myeongdong cathedral is a symbol of Korea Catholic and pro-democracy movement.
